Playing with his new toy - his legs. He has just discovered them this week, and has been having a ball playing around with them. The toy he's holding is new, also. :)

A week or so in pictures...
Random thoughts
I just finished reading Tuesday's with Morrie. It was alright. There were good parts, and parts that made me think about life a little differently. I, for one, thought that some of it was sappy for the sake of being sappy, though. Maybe worth trying out, but I won't read it again.Sorry for the lack of new photos. They were all put on Mike's laptop which is currently being used for studying all day and night.
I had the pleasure yesterday of dealing with one of Andrew's firsts - his first major blow-out of his diaper. I picked him up from his swing to discover my arm covered in unmentionable goo, and upon further investigation, discovered that he was practically swimming in it- from his shoulders all the way to his itty bitty socks. The swing had taken a hit as well. Andrew apparently was feelin' fine, because he was smiling like a crazy person. It was a beautiful thing. Thank goodness for Spray and Wash and a nice warm shower.

Nemesis
Somehow our whole little family has gotten a summer cold. No fun for anyone, especially not for new moms, a little baby, and a guy who starts law school tomorrow. Blech. On the up side, baby snot has been added to Andrew's masterpiece canvas- my t-shirt. It joins its fluid brothers - puke, pee, and drool. (Clap, clap, clap).
Luckily it's not a horrible one, and it should end soon. In the meanwhile, I'll continue to be depressed when his nose is stopped up and he screams when he realizes that I'm using the devil-bulb again. Poor Jellybean.

4 years and counting....
Tomorrow marks Michael and my 4th anniversary. These have truly been a barrel of laughs, a growing time, and a huge blessing. I love Mike more than I could have ever imagined and feel so blessed and lucky to be his wife. To know him is to love him, and I am so very happy to be able to do both as much as I like. Happy Anniversary, honey!
Blech.
Ever feel like this? This picture was taken in December and I was just being silly really, but today I seriously feel like this. My throat feels scratchy, I feel like since the baby I haven't really ever dolled up or anything, and I just generally feel lazy and blech. Not sick, not tired, just blech. Two things that make me feel better are A. Mike who thinks I look nice no matter what and B. My cute little guy who is currently taking a nap in our hammock in the office while sucking his little thumb. So unbelievably cute.

Gratitude Fridge
Mike had a great idea while unpacking. We bought some magnetic letters and have decided to keep a running list of things we're grateful for on the fridge. That way, we'll be forced to look for things to be grateful for. Our list so far is:
1. 2 Bathrooms - that's 2 showers, so guests have their own bathroom. Pretty great!
2. Washer & Dryer - our dryer was on it's last leg (you had to run it twice to get anything dry) and our washer broke after moving in. We were going to have to spend money we didn't really have on new ones, but found an awesome refurbished appliance store here in town and got a really great set for $250. Wow!
3. Little Family - we love being a little family in our new place. :)
4. Ice Cream - there's a place here in town called Andy's (Andrew is very excited about that, I'm sure.) and it....RIVALS TED DREWES. Seriously. I love this place more than I should. It's frozen custard and it just tastes..................Sorry, I'm back now.
5. Crib - We are so grateful to have this sweet little crib for the baby. He loves it. When you put him in it, he smiles and baby-talks like crazy. So cute.
6. Mailbox- Call us dorks, but we like having a real life mailbox. I've never had one in my whole life (post office box, door slots, etc.)
7. Chip - Michael lost his memory chip to his phone a couple weeks ago. It had photos, information, journal notes, sound clips, etc. and we were sad to see that go, especially Mike. We didn't find it while packing but still prayed that we would be able to find it. I was SHOCKED when I found the little chip just sitting on our coffee table yesterday. WOW!
It's a great little idea, and I'm so glad my husband is so fun. :) And yes, we did alphabetize the letters to make it easier. I had so much fun doing that, it was ridiculous.

Movin' movin' movin'.......
Where am I, you may ask? Why, in Columbia of course. We're here, and although it's sad to not be in St. Louis anymore, it's actually really exciting to have this change. I have my little family with me in a cute little duplex (pictures to come later) and Michael will start law school later this month. Woohoo!
Now to unpack. Wah....

Random Kid
This is the conversation I'm hearing between my nephew Zach and my husband Michael. It's pretty much cracking me up.
You know what throw up is? (Explains.).....Yeah. It's lots of water and food and yuck. You wouldn't want to eat that. Bad guys used to eat bodies. And that's not good because it's just gross. Why does breath sometimes smell bad? (Explains.) I'm just gonna get a little bit of exercise. What's that? Oh you got a message? Where is she? Wyoming? Is that in Utah? (It's not in Utah, but it's kind of near Utah.) Like if you walk and walk and then you're in Utah? What's that light on your phone? (That shows I have 5 active tasks on it.) Oh. My bedtime is 8:30. There's a little bit of dark upstairs. Well, camp is over. Yep, it's over.

Two Thumbs Up
Haven't seen UP? You're missing out. This movie is utterly fantastic. Word to the wise, bring Kleenex. Mike and I cried and could have definitely used some. So well done. Funny, touching, thought-provoking.... Just seriously awesome.
Although they did change some of the things from the book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was really good. I think I'd give it an A-. And while we're on the subject of this movie, we couldn't get over how much Andrew looked like Professor Slughorn. His facial expressions, that is. All throughout the movie we'd just stop and laugh because it would be SO on the mark. I tried to find pictures to illustrate, but you may just have to take my word on that.

6 weeks
I can't believe it's already been 6 weeks since Andrew came to meet us. He has truly been a joy. Friday night he slept from 11 until 6 in the morning. It was so exciting! Last night? Up every hour. Sigh.
He's so cute. He's strong, too. He holds his head up so well now, and is always moving his little arms and legs.

Update
Here are some cutie pictures of Andrew and his admirers. We were in Salem this weekend, and I unfortunately don't have any pictures of the Jacobs side since these pictures are from Jeanette's camera. It was so nice to be with family, and we're sad to be going home although it'll be nice to get Andrew back in the routine. You know....eat, cry, catnap, eat, eat, eat, catnap, eat, yell at mama for neglecting me in order to go to the bathroom, eat, dream of eating, smile at Daddy, eat, eat, and eat again. Dang I love that kid.

My Smiley Baby
I caught this on my camera phone. He is the smiliest little baby in the whole world. He spent a good deal of yesterday just looking at us and smiling. I know the experts say it's not "really" smiling, but you can't convince me of that. Sweet little guy!!!

Father's Day
Tomorrow is Father's Day. I was just reflecting on the many wonderful fathers I have in my life.
First and foremost my own father, who is one of the most incredible people I know. He's an amazing teacher, a funny guy, a sweet man, and a loving dad. He's amazing because he can literally do anything. I literally feel that my daddy can do anything. I love him so much, and hope he knows that he is a better father than I could have asked for and I am eternally grateful to call him mine....

My father-in-law is like no other. He would literally give the shirt off his back to you if you asked for it, but is more likely to give it to you before you could even ask, along with a Casey's pizza or two. He's been a great dad and example to my husband, and so accepting and loving to me. I'm glad to have him in my life. This picture epitomizes his loving nature so well.
My brother and brother in laws are such fantastic dads. They love their kids and treat them with respect and love. It's fun to see those you love loving others in such a special way.
And last but not least, the newest little daddy on the block- Mike Jacobs. He's a proud papa, and a great one to boot. At the hospital, the nurse came in and said that Drew's temperature was too low, and he needed to warm up. I'll never forget the overwhelming feeling of love I felt when I saw the sad look in Mike's eyes as he went over and caught the baby up and wrapped him in his arms with blankets all around them and snuggled him until he was back up to the right temperature. He has been a great provider and a great help to me and Andrew. I love him, and it's so fun to see him developing this other part of himself. Happy Father's Day, little Papa.

Life with Andrew
Ok. So he's really cute. My hormones have been off the charts since bringing him home. I feel good, just crying at everything that happens/doesn't happen. I seriously looked at my bruises from the IV and felt sorry for myself and started crying yesterday. Ok, that's nuts. They don't even hurt. Then there are the inevitable baby blues where you worry that your baby isn't eating enough, or that he won't freaking stop eating already or that blah blah blah.
I've gotta say though, Michael and I have really really been having a great time with our little guy. He's hilarious and so so sweet. My personal favorite thing is to see Mike and Andrew snuggling on the couch. They sure seem to like each other quite a bit. :) I like having Mike be the daddy - he's exceptionally good at it.
Jeanette came and stayed his weekend to help since Mike had to go back to work. I really appreciated it, and these pictures pretty much cracked me up. The distressed face is probably my favorite picture of him thus far. He makes that face at us all the time - kind of like, "Mom, Dad - are you two really as weird as you seem?"
Well, the little guy's crying to eat again - turns out that eating 22.5 hours a day is his favorite pasttime.

Tomorrow's the Big Day
Tomorrow, 9 am, St. Luke's hospital. I think this kid's plan was to wait inside until he was old enough to go on his mission, but I'm just not ok with that. We're inducing tomorrow.
I feel excited and nervous at the same time. Wish me luck! The next posting will be with pictures of the little guy. YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!

Pregnancy photo
Well, here I am. We're 3 days away and I'm ready to see him! With parents as cute as this, he's bound to be adorable, right? :) Amy took this outside of my apartment a couple weeks ago. Thanks, Amy! This is an old photo of Mike, but the options here at my parents are a little slim on pictures of him. Isn't he adorable, though??

Fog and Rain
I love fog! I came outside this morning a little before 7 and the whole street was foggy. It's scary to drive in, but to walk in it is like walking in the clouds!
I love rain, except for when you get soaked and then have to come back into the air conditioning at work with wet Birkenstock sandals. Blech.

Cute little neice
My neice Abigail will turn 3 this summer. And she is the cutest little curly blond ever. We ate dinner over there last night and had so many laughs over her. She said to her daddy, "I so wuv Ki-ren. I give her big kiss!!" SUCH a little sweetheart!
