My Smiley Baby

I caught this on my camera phone. He is the smiliest little baby in the whole world. He spent a good deal of yesterday just looking at us and smiling. I know the experts say it's not "really" smiling, but you can't convince me of that. Sweet little guy!!!

Father's Day

Tomorrow is Father's Day. I was just reflecting on the many wonderful fathers I have in my life.

First and foremost my own father, who is one of the most incredible people I know. He's an amazing teacher, a funny guy, a sweet man, and a loving dad. He's amazing because he can literally do anything. I literally feel that my daddy can do anything. I love him so much, and hope he knows that he is a better father than I could have asked for and I am eternally grateful to call him mine....

My father-in-law is like no other. He would literally give the shirt off his back to you if you asked for it, but is more likely to give it to you before you could even ask, along with a Casey's pizza or two. He's been a great dad and example to my husband, and so accepting and loving to me. I'm glad to have him in my life. This picture epitomizes his loving nature so well.

My brother and brother in laws are such fantastic dads. They love their kids and treat them with respect and love. It's fun to see those you love loving others in such a special way.

And last but not least, the newest little daddy on the block- Mike Jacobs. He's a proud papa, and a great one to boot. At the hospital, the nurse came in and said that Drew's temperature was too low, and he needed to warm up. I'll never forget the overwhelming feeling of love I felt when I saw the sad look in Mike's eyes as he went over and caught the baby up and wrapped him in his arms with blankets all around them and snuggled him until he was back up to the right temperature. He has been a great provider and a great help to me and Andrew. I love him, and it's so fun to see him developing this other part of himself. Happy Father's Day, little Papa.
Happy Father's Day to all of the great fathers out there.

Life with Andrew

Ok. So he's really cute. My hormones have been off the charts since bringing him home. I feel good, just crying at everything that happens/doesn't happen. I seriously looked at my bruises from the IV and felt sorry for myself and started crying yesterday. Ok, that's nuts. They don't even hurt. Then there are the inevitable baby blues where you worry that your baby isn't eating enough, or that he won't freaking stop eating already or that blah blah blah.

I've gotta say though, Michael and I have really really been having a great time with our little guy. He's hilarious and so so sweet. My personal favorite thing is to see Mike and Andrew snuggling on the couch. They sure seem to like each other quite a bit. :) I like having Mike be the daddy - he's exceptionally good at it.

Jeanette came and stayed his weekend to help since Mike had to go back to work. I really appreciated it, and these pictures pretty much cracked me up. The distressed face is probably my favorite picture of him thus far. He makes that face at us all the time - kind of like, "Mom, Dad - are you two really as weird as you seem?"

Well, the little guy's crying to eat again - turns out that eating 22.5 hours a day is his favorite pasttime.

Better than Expected...

Andrew Wyatt has arrived!
On June 2nd at 3:36 a.m. little Drew made his appearance. At 8 lbs 1 oz, he is even more beautiful, more wonderful, and more miraculous than I could ever have imagined. We couldn't have been more happy with our sweet little man.
