Anyone feel my pain?

A post yesterday and a post today. You guys must be in heaven! :)

Ok, so I know this probably isn't something most of you have dealt with, but I am about done with people asking me, "When are you going to start looking pregnant?"

Ok, so I will be at 24 weeks tomorrow, and my baby is healthy and moving like crazy. Let's just say I'm pretty sure he's in there. Most people have the opposite problem, but I swear, I think I would be happy to hear, "Wow, you're huge." But I think it'll be my luck that after I have the baby, strangers will start asking when I'm due.

Tell me, am I alone here??

Random Questions

1. What’s something that grosses you out?
Eyeballs are disgusting. Little balls in your head that are all liquidy and squishy. Ew, ew, EW. Totally gross.

2. What’s something you’ve held onto for a long time that you need to get rid of?
Realized yesterday that keeping a box (or boxes in my case) full of clothes that I’m never going to wear is stupid. I mean, seriously, when am I going to pull those out? We went through them, and I couldn’t even remember some of them! And really, the ones you “hope to be able to wear again…” Those have seriously gotta go. Talk about depressing.

3. What’s something that makes you sad?
I can’t stand the book Of Mice and Men. I actually enjoy a sad book/movie now and again, but there’s something that is horribly depressing about that book. Michael said “bunnies” yesterday. (We weren’t even talking about that book!) I started to cry and had to distract myself with something else. Don’t get me wrong. It’s an extremely well-written book, but I just can’t stand the depression I got when I read it. Mike and I read it together and when we finished, I literally cried for 1 ½ hours. There was no consoling me. Maybe that makes me sound crazy. Maybe I am. But, man….

4. If you could live in any time, when and where would it be?
Massachusetts in the mid-late 1800’s. I might have a slight obsession with Louisa May Alcott books. What a great, simple time. I would love it. (Except for the lack of electricity and modern medicine – my poor Beth….)

5. If you could play any instrument really well, what would it be?
Mine is a toss-up between the cello and the piano. The piano is much more useful in the church and all, but I just melt for cello music. It’s so deep and beautiful!

6. Who are your top 3 people to meet (dead or alive)?
I’m not going to say anything religious, because those are a little too obvious and hard to limit. I would say one would be my grandpa. He died when I was only a baby, and I have always wanted to know him. Two, I would probably say Abraham Lincoln. He was such a cool guy, and he would be so interesting to talk to! Third, (and this is really hard to narrow down by the way) I guess I would have to go with Jim Henson. A man who makes his living making Muppets? I’ve gotta talk to him. Sesame Street was my life when I was a little kid, and I still watch it when I can. (Although not the recent episodes. Elmo’s World? What is that?? But that's a rant for another blog, another time.)

7. What’s something about yourself that you normally keep quiet?
I spend my time in sacrament meeting trying to think of which famous person or animal the speaker looks like. I stop when I realize I’m doing it. (Usually.) We seriously had Thomas Edison’s twin speak on Sunday. No joke.

8. What’s one thing that is always guaranteed to make you laugh?
When Mike’s family gets together to tell stories, I always laugh so hard that my stomach hurts. They have the weirdest, funniest stories to tell.

9. What hasn’t changed about yourself since you were a kid?
My ditzy-ness. I was the biggest space-case in the world as a kid. That has definitely stayed with me. I picked up a pair of baby pants in the laundry (a new occurrence for us) and was shocked at how much they had shrunk in the wash. It seriously took me a full minute to realize they were for the Jellybean. We don't even own any grown-up pants that looked like that....

10. What is one of your vices?
Popcap games (www.popcap.com). I don’t play them often, but can definitely get sucked into one like a bad tornado if I give myself the chance.

Now it’s your turn!

Simplify, simplify, simplify...

Because we've been in our townhouse for almost 3 years, and because we can't seem to just throw junk away, our basement has become a bit of a nightmare. It's scary, I tell you.

Because my brother-in-law is coming to live with us temporarily while his family finds a house in the area, we have been forced to change our packrat-ish ways. For instance, I had a box full of picture frames. Full.... I currently have zero pictures up in my house. That's right. Zero. Will I put some up? Of course. Is it going to happen soon? Don't make me laugh. So why, you may ask, did I have an entire box full of frames? Just call me rat-face.

I've now become Goodwill's best friend. I've sent my poor husband on Goodwill runs so many times, I doubt he'll speak to me again. Really, though - it has felt SO good to just get rid of stuff! We've been scanning papers instead of keeping all the huge piles of memorabilia, donating or giving away things we really don't need, and just generally ridding our lives bit by bit of,well...junk.

As my main man Henry David Thoreau said, "Simplify, simplify, simplify."
And with hair like that, he just can't be wrong.

Oh, boy...

At least we know he won't be shy. Looks like we'll be saying a lot of, "No, we don't go around the neighborhood naked....again. Period." But as Amy has pointed out - it's not really his fault he's naked. Words of wisdom.

We couldn't have cared less whether it was a boy or girl, but it's just fun to get to know our little baby a little better. :) Yay!

Which one?

Ok, so we should find out tomorrow if we're having a boy or a girl. Yippee!! We are totally stoked. I just pray that my child is cooperative. :) What do you think? Will it be a boy or a girl?

Yer a tomata....

Confession: I have a slightly huge obsession with the Rocky movies. I don't know what it is about them, but they just make me so happy! I'm not a huge fight-movie fan, nor do I normally enjoy violence in movies at all. These movies, though!!! Ok, so I actually hate Rocky 5. The only redeeming quality it has is the very ending. The rest is just depressing and horrible. But the other 5 are such amazing movies!!! If you haven't seen these movies, do it! You will love them. They are so full of heart, and the character development for ALL the characters is out of this world! Rocky is, of course, the best, but you can't beat Mick, Apollo Creed, Adrian, Paulie, etc..... If you are a Rocky fan, you know what I'm talking about. Which is your favorite movie? What are your favorite parts? Who's your favorite character? Leave me a comment. I'm interested! Ok, I'll leave you non-Rocky-lovers in peace, while I shake my head at the sadness that is your life without the Italian Stallion. :)

I love to see the temple...

Aaron went to the temple for the first time last Saturday. It was so neat to be in there with family. I'm so proud of Aaron for being ready to go on his mission next month. I'm looking forward to sending him letters and seeing what he accomplishes and how he grows!

Here's a picture of Mike and I outside the temple.
This picture is of the whole family. (I really love this picture, except for the fact that somehow me and my pregnant belly are forming an unneccessary third row...directly up front. How did that happen?)

Ah, Tums.....How I love thee.....

Third...

I know. This is the 3rd blog I've done today. I must be obsessed... Or I must be at Amy's, with access to the Internet and her photos. Moving on.
I made pajama pants!!! Amy taught Jeanette and I how to make them, so we did while we were at my parents' house.

Marriage thoughts....

I went to a wedding of a friend of the family today. It got me thinking about my 3 1/2 years of marriage. I honestly don't understand when people talk about how hard marriage is. It's not easy - don't get me wrong, but maybe we're just having too much fun and like each other too dang much to think about it being hard.
There are days when things don't go as smoothly as we'd like, but no matter what's going on that day, I'm just so very grateful to be married to my best friend.

Normal?

My heart is racing, I can't breathe well at all, I feel really dizzy, and there's a tumor-esque thing growing out of my stomach. It cracks me up that when women are pregnant, these symptoms become "normal." There is something inside me growing hair, teeth, and nails and it's sucking my energy- this still doesn't feel natural. Call me nutty... Call me crazy, if you will... But really. Hair, teeth, and nails? Blech.
