What's in a Name?

Before we know it, our littlest guy will be here.  Since we really have no idea what to name him, we're kind of stuck.
My little niece has suggested Sam the Snowman and Glitterpants.  While both of these are wonderful names, we kind of like more traditional names.
Some ideas we've had are Henry, James, Peter, etc.  But mostly we've just had blank mind.  So I'm asking for help coming up with names!  We want very simple names, traditional spellings, etc.
So lay 'em on me.  Otherwise little GP (Glitterpants) will be nameless.  Do you want THAT on your conscious?  :)

Hm. I have all sorts of baby names saved up but not ecessarily many traditional ones. But for you, I got out my old list and here are the most traditional ones on there (and maybe they won't even be traditional-sounding to you!): Levi, Patrick, Seth, Porter, Nicholas, Oscar.

That's the best I can do. There's a name blog I like, youcantcallitit.com, that has some interesting suggestions, many of which are older/tradtional names that are becoming new again.

By the way, do you ever use the social security baby name site? http://www.ssa.gov/oact/babynames/ You could put in a year, say 1900 or something, and see the top 100 names for that year. Just a thought. :)

I love that you all love traditional names. That kid is in great hands. Some thoughts... William David, James Lucas, Matthew Joseph, Henry Thomas or Nathan Issac (first and middle names easily interchangable). Good luck!

Matthew Alan Jacobs. That was my top pick (minus Jacobs, of course). I also like timothy, samuel, and Joseph. Although come to think of it, Joseph Jacobs doesn't sound great.

Of the names above I like Seth, Lucas and Patrick. I also like Sam and Oliver. We seemed to gravitate to Irish names.
Let's see...Owen, Asher.... I would say Jacob but...

Oh, and glitter pants is awesome. Our youngest was 'aladdin' until he was born because his sister was completely and totally distraught that he wasn't a girl at the ultrasound that we said she could name him until she was born. A few people thought we were actually naming him that...

Peter is a great name! I may be partial though ;-). I also love James. Matthew, Daniel, Jordan, Johnathan, Ryan, Jason, David... just a few off my list :-). Good luck! We too, have the hardest time settling on a name.
